Introduction
MoveFirst turns movement into screen time. You choose the apps that eat your time, move to earn minutes for them, and when the minutes run out those apps stay locked until you move again.
To do that, MoveFirst works with some of the most personal data on your iPhone: your health data, your Screen Time, and your camera. It is built so that none of it ever leaves your device, and this policy explains exactly what the app touches and what happens to it.
The short version
- MoveFirst has no account and sends nothing about you to Moby.
- Your health data is read on your device to count your movement. It is never uploaded, shared or used for advertising, and MoveFirst never writes to Apple Health.
- The camera counts squats and push-ups on your device. No photo or video is ever recorded, saved or sent anywhere.
- Screen Time stays with Apple. MoveFirst never learns the names of the apps you lock or what you do in them.
- There are no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.
- Purchases are handled by Apple. To check a subscription, RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier and Apple’s receipt, and nothing else.
Apple Health
With your permission, MoveFirst reads four kinds of data from Apple Health: steps, active energy, exercise minutes and workouts. Workouts logged by any app or watch that saves them to Apple Health count too. MoveFirst uses this data for one thing only: calculating the Move Points that become your screen time.
MoveFirst only reads. It never writes, changes or deletes anything in Apple Health.
Health data is processed on your device and never leaves it. It is not sent to Moby, not stored in iCloud by MoveFirst, not shared with anyone, and never used for advertising or marketing. Apple Health may wake MoveFirst in the background when new movement arrives, so your earned time stays current; that update also happens entirely on your device.
Screen Time
MoveFirst uses Apple’s Screen Time framework to lock the apps you choose. You pick them in Apple’s own picker, and MoveFirst receives opaque tokens in return: it can ask iOS to lock or unlock those apps, but it never learns their names, their contents, or what you do in them.
Apple measures how long you use the locked apps on your device, so your earned minutes are deducted as you spend them. The “Where your minutes went” breakdown is drawn by a part of iOS on MoveFirst’s behalf; the per-app figures are shown to you but never reach the app itself.
None of this leaves your device. You can remove MoveFirst’s Screen Time access at any time in Settings › Screen Time.
The camera
Earn time can count squats and push-ups with the front camera. While a set is running, MoveFirst analyses each camera frame on your device with Apple’s built-in body pose detection, keeps only the position of your joints for that moment, and discards the frame immediately.
No photo or video is ever recorded, saved to your library, or sent anywhere. The camera is only on while a set is running, and iOS shows its camera indicator the whole time.
What stays on your device
MoveFirst keeps a small amount of information in its own private storage on your iPhone, shared only with its own widgets and Screen Time extensions:
- Today’s earned and used minutes, and a daily history of them for your streak, your recap and your badges
- Your settings: your earning pace, daily cap, emergency unlock length and movement source
- The Screen Time tokens for the apps you chose to lock
- Your answers to the setup questions (how long you scroll, when you scroll most, which devices you use), which personalise the numbers MoveFirst shows you
- The badges you have earned and the reps you have banked today
What MoveFirst never collects
- Your name, email address, phone number or any account
- Photos, video or audio of any kind
- The names or contents of the apps you use
- Your location
- Advertising identifiers, device fingerprints, usage analytics or crash logs
- Anything at all on a server belonging to Moby
Notifications
If you allow notifications, MoveFirst can tell you when a minute of screen time is left, and can offer to open Earn time from the lock screen. These are local notifications: they are created and delivered by your iPhone, and nothing about them passes through a server.
Purchases and subscriptions
MoveFirst is free to use. MoveFirst Pro is available as a weekly or yearly auto-renewing subscription. The yearly plan may start with a free trial; if you do not cancel before the trial ends, the subscription begins and Apple charges the price shown on the purchase screen. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and you can cancel at any time in your Apple ID settings.
Payment is handled entirely by Apple. Moby never sees your card details, your Apple ID, or your billing address.
To check whether your subscription is active, MoveFirst uses RevenueCat. RevenueCat processes an anonymous identifier generated on your device and the receipt Apple issues. It is not linked to your name or email, and no health, Screen Time, camera or usage data is ever sent to RevenueCat or to anyone else.
You do not need an account to subscribe or to restore a purchase.
Ratings
MoveFirst may show Apple’s standard prompt asking you to rate the app. The prompt and your rating are handled by Apple; MoveFirst does not see whether or how you rated it.
Deleting your data
Because everything MoveFirst keeps lives on your device, deleting the app deletes all of it. Your data in Apple Health stays in Apple Health, under your control, and a subscription continues until you cancel it in your Apple ID settings.
Children
MoveFirst is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone, of any age.
Changes to This Policy
If our data practices change, we will update this policy and note it in the App Store update notes. Keeping your health data, your Screen Time and your camera on your device is the point of the app rather than a temporary position.
